Rayong – 13 February 2026 – TCB Broadcasting Company Limited (“TCB”) reaffirms its commitment to marine environmental conservation by supporting the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) with three units of the Globalstar SPOT Trace satellite tracking device. The initiative aims to enhance the efficiency of monitoring coral larval dispersal using drifting buoys, supporting ecosystem restoration efforts through a deeper understanding of ecological connectivity in the eastern Gulf of Thailand.
Integrating Technology for Sustainable Oceans
On 6 February 2026, the Eastern Gulf of Thailand Marine and Coastal Resources Research Center under DMCR, led by Ms. Lalita Patchim, conducted field operations at Koh Mun Island, Rayong Province. The team monitored coral spawning activities and deployed the first two drifting buoys equipped with SPOT Trace devices to track ocean currents and coral larval dispersal patterns.
Key Objectives of the Project
Restoring Marine Habitats Through Technology
The support of SPOT Trace devices represents more than a contribution of communication equipment; it establishes a critical data foundation for informed conservation decision-making. TCB believes that technology serves as a bridge to advance Thailand’s marine scientific research with greater precision and impact—ensuring the long-term preservation of marine biodiversity and healthy ocean ecosystems.

Key Objectives of the Project
- Research and Scientific Study: To monitor the dispersal pathways of coral larvae from source reefs, generating essential data to support systematic coral reef restoration and resource management strategies.
- Data-Driven Management: To utilize SPOT Trace satellite tracking technology to determine the real-time location of drifting buoys, enabling accurate long-term data collection—even in offshore areas without mobile network coverage.
