It is a joint service between Thaicom, Thailand's leading satellite operator, and Globalstar, a global satellite service provider.
How is it different from a regular mobile phone?
Regular mobile phones rely on ground-based cell towers, which limits their coverage in remote areas. Globalstar's service connects directly to a constellation of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites, allowing it to work anywhere you have a clear view of the sky.
What is the service coverage area?
Our lowEarthorbit satellites cover over 120 countries and territories. The service provides 100% coverage across Thailand, including the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea, as well as neighboring countries. You can be confident that you will stay connected wherever you are.
How is Globalstar's Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite technology better?
LEO satellites orbit closer to Earth than traditional geostationary (GEO) satellites, offering several advantages: The signal travels a shorter distance. The receiver devices can be smaller compact and more power-efficient.

What is the SPOT Gen4 device?
SPOT Gen4 is a personal satellite GPS messenger that allows you to stay in touch with friends, family, or your team in areas without mobile phone signal.

The main functions:
  • S.O.S.: In an emergency, you can press the S.O.S. button to send a distress signal with your GPS coordinates to the emergency response coordination center.
  • Check-in: Send a pre-set short message with your GPS coordinates to let your contacts know you are safe.
  • Custom Message: Send a custom message with your GPS coordinates.
  • Tracking: Track your route in real-time via Google Maps® and share it with others. The frequency of sending coordinates can be customized.
  • Help/S.O.V.: Request help from friends or family in non-life-threatening situations.

SPOT Gen4 uses 4 AAA Energizer® Ultimate Lithium 8x batteries, which offer long life. However, extreme hot or cold weather conditions may affect battery performance.

It is ideal for climbers, hikers, adventure tourists, or personnel working in remote areas who need a communication channel for safety.
Are the devices difficult to use?
Not at all. Most devices are designed to be as user-friendly as a regular mobile phone. The most important principle is to use them in an open area with a clear view of the sky for the best satellite signal reception.
