Globalstar Satellite SOS successfully rescued tourists

Krabi – Hat Noppharat Thara-Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park reinforces tourist safety confidence after its Emergency SOS satellite rescue system (via the Globalstar network) installed at the Khao Ngon Nak Nature Trail successfully saved two injured tourists in cellular dead zones earlier this year (2026).
2 Real-Life Rescues, Proven Efficiency
With SOS devices strategically placed along the trekking trail, the system has proven its lifesaving capabilities in real-world scenarios:
- January 17, 2026: A Thai tourist found a French tourist who had suffered a sprained ankle around KM 3—a notorious cellular dead zone. After pressing the SOS button, the signal was beamed directly to the PhP.4 (Tubkaek) National Park Ranger Unit. Rangers reached the victim swiftly, provided first aid, and safely evacuated them down the mountain.
- April 19, 2026: Rangers received another distress signal. Upon arrival, they found a Thai tourist suffering from severe muscle cramps and unable to move. The team successfully assisted and escorted them back down safely.
How Globalstar Transforms Remote Rescue
In national parks with steep, mountainous terrain and dense jungle, "cellular dead zones" are a major obstacle during emergencies. Integrating the Globalstar satellite network has become a game-changer:
- 100% Coverage: Transmits signals via satellite, making it perfect for ground-signal dead zones like Khao Ngon Nak and other remote national parks.
- High Precision: Pinpoints the exact GPS coordinates of the victim, drastically reducing search and rescue time.
- Rapid Response: Once the SOS button is pressed, an alert is instantly sent to the rescue team’s monitor and via SMS, enabling immediate deployment.
- User-Friendly: Purpose-built for emergencies. A simple twist of a single hotkey instantly sends out a call for help.
"Tourist safety is our ultimate mission. Integrating Globalstar’s Emergency SOS technology not only enhances our team's operational efficiency but also provides peace of mind for travelers, ensuring they are never truly out of reach, even in cellular dead zones." — National Park Official
